Scott Quinn

Born in Harrogate, Yorkshire 27 year-old singer Scott Quinn is a multi-instrumentalist who plays by ear and writes emotionally synth-infused pop songs that sit somewhere comfortably between Charlie Puth and Lauv with a nod to James Blake and Sampha. “Pop isn’t a dirty word, pop is popular,” he explains of the music, which he describes as “emotional electronic R&B pop.” If you’ve been keeping an eye out you’ve probably heard some of his songs already. Last year’s release of “From Afar” was capable of capturing a specific feeling and parlaying it into a language that is understood by people whether they live in South Korea, to Germany (where he’s is getting a lot of support), and right here in the United Kingdom where he’s building up a devoted fanbase.

Being alumni of The Royal Northern College of Music, Leeds College of Music and The National Children Orchestra, music was always going to be Scott’s destiny. He’s never had a plan B or C! Scott’s parents taught him the importance of patience and always looking at the bigger picture/ playing the long game. Quinn explains: “My parents have never questioned my career path and have always instilled confidence in my ability and patience in the journey” They were right. Outside his own music, Quinn has written for a hand picked selection of artists – moving between London, Los Angeles and South Korea. Collaborating on other artists music, he says, is a chance to explore music further, to go deeper and be open to things that may not have previously been considered. That said, Quinn is an artist first and foremost – something that’s heavily represented in his plan and release schedule going forward.
